In the locality: Local festivals

There are numerous local festivals in the region throughout the year, the most famous being:

Jazz in Marciac

Every year, for over 30 years, the pretty bastide town of Marciac fills with world famous jazz musicians and jazz fans during the first fortnight of August. See the Jazz in Marciac website for more details.

Outside of the festival fortnight there are one or two jazz concerts a month. More events are expected once the purpose built concert hall opens its doors in 2011.

As part of its education programme Jazz in Marciac runs music workshops outside of the festival period. They are given in French or in English and are intended for amateur musicians who wish to improve their level and to meet artists of international renown. See the website for more details.

NOTE: The programme for the main festival is usually published in April. All forms of accomodation in the area get booked up very quickly for the festival period so you'll need to book as soon as possible to ensure your accomodation.
